(2/5) GREG STEPS + WEATHERBOARD HOUSE

    8:30 PM

Greg Steps is a Brisbane born folk singer-songwriter, currently residing in Melbourne. Having just released his debut EP ‘Always a Drifter’ he has undertaken a string of shows in Melbourne and regional Victoria, where he has won over crowds both large and small. Accompanying himself on guitar and harmonica, Steps is a modern day story teller with songs that evoke the vast desolate landscape of Australia’s barren interior. His intimate solo acoustic sets bring noisy suburban beer barns to a standstill, while his own unique brand of rock n roll, played with his partners in crime - the George Lazenby Band - rattle windows and set barstools shaking. With his distinctive voice, unique songs and unconventional between-song banter, he has proven himself to be a true original.

    (14/5) UNSPOKEN RULE

    8:00 PM

An enchanting singer with a natural sense of swing, Jennifer Salisbury has made a name of herself among the jazz community with her breezy renditions of the american songbook. When onstage, she channels the great voices of the ‘40s and ‘50s guiding her audience in a time-traveling roller-coaster of emotions, navigating the history of jazz. Her own songwriting is deeply influenced by the golden era of jazz; it’s almost impossible to tell apart the songs that she wrote herself, from the classic repertoire she draws from to tell the Unspoken Rule story; songs immortalized by Billie Holiday, Chet Baker, Doris Day, Benny Goodman, in unexpected arrangements by James Mustafa, turning the project into a balancing act between the vintage and modern esthetics.

Twelve months later, Chris Cavill & The Prospectors are back, louder and plugged-in. Shifting from the folk sounds into a more blues-rock direction, the band has gone full electric, translating the high-energy intensity of their live shows into a powerful recording. Musically inspired by the 70’s rock/grunge era of Neil Young, Tom Petty and Led Zeppelin, their 2016 EP, ‘All That You Got’ yields dirty blues anthems, crunchy rock ballads and a pair of crowd-pleasing and band-favourite covers. ‘All That You Got’ goes beyond the folk stylings illustrated on last year’s release, showcasing the depth of the band’s influences and abilities.

(28/5) KATE LUCETTA + OLIVER JACH + MATTHEW PROCTOR

    3:00 PM

Kate Lucetta is a part time receptionist who would much rather be a full time musician. She plays soulful bluesy pop songs about the everyday, the mundane & the extraordinary. Kate plays guitar, ukulele, charango & will probably beat you at scrabble. Oliver Jach is a purveyor of warm, experimental folk music that sometimes bridges into rock jam sessions, recalling 90s bands like Built to Spill and Pavement. His voice and lyrics express heartache and soft fragility, with a firm positivity beneath all his despair. Matthew Procter is a unique guitarist and songwriter. He has been broadly influenced with a distinct taste in alternative British music. Going back to his English roots in Preston Lancashire, his introduction to music was actually classical. With a unique take on rock and pop, over the last five years he has embraced a lot more blues and funk. This has helped to create a much more embellished sound. A famous musician once said “what goes in is what comes out” I guess it rings true.

    8:00 PM

A Rioting Mind is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Camilla Sullivan and guitarist Libby Ferris. Their 90’s inspired sound flies between ambient, reverb drenched ballads, to crunchy, gritted-teeth, angsty rock jams. All interwoven with a balance of melancholy and fierce lyrics. 2017 sees the band launch their debut EP Perfect As Strangers, which has drawn musical comparisons to artist such as The Cure and Jeff Buckley. Influenced by pop-punk bands such as Paramore and the darker, downtempo sounds of Daughter, Perfect As Strangers captures the diverse and dynamic energy of the band, all the highs and all the lows.
