The Retreat presents a striking triple bill of Melbourne songwriters featuring Mel Taylor, Brain Romance and Isobel Caldwell on Sunday May 9th. These artists unite for one night only, bringing three sets of original folk-pop, rich in lyricism and harmony.

Mel Taylor
Mel Taylor forged her sound in Victoria's High Country, possessing a compelling voice and lyrical knack for storytelling that is authentic and inherently Australian. Shortlisted for the Folk Alliance "Young Performer of the Year Award" in 2020, the alt-folk songwriter joins forces with Isaac Gunnoo on double bass and Maddison Carter.
Brain Romance fuses the erratic, off-kilter songwriting and progressive indie tropes of Campeau with Cameron’s nuanced and arresting vocals to birth a folk-pop tour de force, years in the making.
Isobel is a Hong Kong born, Naarm/Melb based folk-ish musician, with a passion for cheese supreme doritos and songs about feelings. She seeks to find the warmth and tenderness in the thorny parts of love, loss and confusion. Her sound has been described as some as a warm hug, so if that's something you need right now, you know where to go.
