11 HUGE SHOWS. 11 HUGE GUEST ARTISTS - we are throwing the biggest series of shows over summer, inviting some huge names in Aboriginal Music World to come guest open Naarms longest running premier Open Mic night which is home to First Nations artists far and wide. And we're so excited we are throwing a huge launch party with our great friends and soul outfit THE DEANS OF SOUL.

The Deans are an 8 piece outfit consisting of drums, electric guitar and electric bass.

The Deans also utilise the special talents of female vocalists Sophie Dickson and Sophie Elsworth, keyboardist Phoebe Elsworth, Basil Byrne or Bel Porter on trumpet and Emelia Wilmot on saxophone. These 6 have affectionately become known as ‘The Deanettes.’ The Deans are the sound of modern, original Melbourne Soul.

The Deans merge old school soul and funk with elements of cool rocksteady, rhythm and blues.

The Deans sound introduces an original modern Melbourne soul sound. With velvet smooth vocals, sweet harmonies, soaring heartbreak guitar, deep Motown bass grooves and hip-shaking rhythms, The Deans combine soul, funk and R & B influences to create songs of emotion and of the heart. They are FUNKY, SOUL-FULL and will blow the roof of The Retreat to get this summer series firing!

Blak Stage is this countries premier and longest running open mic night for mob, running every Tuesday at The Retreat Hotel. Door 6.30pm.
