Celebrating the release of her second single Socialite, NZ artist Mayzie is bringing her unique mix of shoegaze, Americana, and post-punk to Brunswick institution the Retreat. Joined by the unforgettable Sid O’Neil (the Vasco Era), good songs from Francis Glass and cool songs from hot duo Echo and the Echoettes.

Socialite is “about how it is when you are in your early twenties, that odd sad feeling of nostalgia, and grieving that your youth is over. It’s about looking back on that feeling again when you are older and realising that at twenty two your life hasn’t even begun yet.” Recorded and produced by Melbourne based Aden Senycia (Peter Bibbby, Nicholas Allbrook, Dianas) and featuring superb drumming by Em Chen (Edith Lane, Tamara & the Dreams, Hydra Fashion Week), the single was recorded at Loveshack Studio in Footscray. Socialite is the second single off her upcoming EP “Bright and Tiny Sparks” due out later this year.
