Following on from the release of lead single ‘Bad Wine’ back in July, Melbourne-based singer-songwriter/guitarist Dom Brinkley is stoked to be releasing a new collection of funk, soul and psychedelia-based tracks entitled ‘The Butterfly EP’ on Fri 10th November.

To celebrate the release, Dom will be performing an EP launch show at the Retreat Hotel on Thursday November 9th, where he will be joined by his five-piece live band, featuring Joel Keane on guitar, Miles Thomas on bass, Lucy Makowski on saxophone/flute and Patrick Brinkley on drums.

The EP’s core themes encompass loneliness, the pursuit of escapism, a yearning for personal growth and self-transformation, as well as themes of love and self-acceptance.

On the night, Dom and his band will be joined by two other acts: Melbourne's psychedelic folk ensemble, Kelsey Jean & the Bad Health, and the experimental punk-folk group, Kotlas Begemot.

With a folk vein running through their core, KELSEY JEAN & THE BAD HEALTH bring a bold energy with tight grooves and psychedelic sounds. Taking heavy inspiration from both modern Melbourne folk and rock bands coupled with '70s psychedelia, it’s all a perfect backing for Kelsey’s poetic musings and elegant vocals.

The KOTLAS BEGEMOT stands on an indeterminate number of legs and has a body of metal shards. It plays loud, harsh and joyous folk music.

The Retreat Hotel would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which The Retreat now stands, and pay our respects to all elders past, present and emerging.
