Introducing Olivia Hope, a mother of three in her 40s with a full-time job, who decided to chase her childhood dream during the 2020 lockdowns. Fuelled by lockdown whims, glimpses of grey hair, or perhaps a few too many G&Ts, she set out to share her original songs with the world. Since then, Olivia has released a handful of originals on various music platforms, with more in the pipeline.
Mark your calendar for Olivia’s debut solo show at The Retreat on Sunday March 17th, where she’ll enchant the audience with a blend of her originals and beloved sing-along covers from inspiring artists from the 80s and 90s pop era, reminiscent of her childhood.
Joining her on stage will be an array of talented friends, family and guest artists, including mesmerising South African acapella vocal group Makepisi, pianist Rebecca Hart, percussionist Ray Pereira OAM, vocalists Katie Hull-Brown and Lani Pereira and Linc Yow Yeh of Deans of Soul on guitar.
Olivia’s acoustic soul-pop music is moving and heartfelt, drawing on gospel influences from her time singing with a Zulu Choir in South Africa. Her songs weave tales of love, loss, and hope through the ages, capturing the breadth of highs and lows nearly as vast as her vocal range.
