STINGA is the South-East Asian Audio-visual outfit born during the 2023 Vietnam tour of the same name, featuring members of underground collectives CONTENT.NET.AU and stealthyn00b. Founded by visual artist and VJ Passive Kneeling, STINGA is produced by Kuya Neil and Nerdie (1300) and features BAYANG (tha Bushranger), lil ket, kk88, TT and Zeraph on vocals.
STINGA LIVE will be the group’s first live performance in Sydney, celebrating the release of their first mixtape ‘Tour Diary ‘24’, which captures the raw, nostalgic energy of the 4 day AirBnb studio bender in Da Lat, Vietnam. Over 7 tracks, the group poured their hearts over 90s Filipino karaoke and rare Korean YouTube rips with nothing but a busted microphone, case of 333 beer and an assortment of Vietnamese cigarettes. Expect Oz rap bars, Chinese hooks, karaoke pan flutes and hard hitting retro drum samples shaped by the sonic foundations of Vinahouse, Budots, K-pop, Juke, Jungle and Baile Funk.
Supporting the group are CONTENT.NET.AU will be a rare live performance from ZK king, featuring brand new original productions, offering her uncanny bedroom atmospherics, glitched lo-fi drum chops and fever dream vocal samples. Rising star Blood Lotus returns to the Retreat off the back of her intimate second single ‘Dragonfruit’, proving her to be a vocalist to watch in 2025. Cyber-futurist Voidhood brings his mind bending and hyper-futuristic production to the Retreat, featuring tracks of his upcoming debut album. Emerging Melbourne via Canberra underground producer and vocalist Samatar, opens the night with his prodigious lo-fi underground hip-hop sound.
**OPEN KARAOKE AFTER LIVE MUSIC**
Kuya Neil will be running open karaoke featuring the iconic Arirang 3600 HDMI karaoke machine, with live scoring and over 1000 songs in English and Vietnamese!
