The Retreat Hotel in Brunswick sets the stage for a night of moving performances, with Joyce Prescher’s haunting folk and Kris Mizzi’s honest, lyrical songwriting. Joyce will be backed by her band for this evening. Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Joyce Prescher writes introspective folk songs shaped by her European roots and a gift for contemporary storytelling. Whether performing solo or with a full band, her shows are immersive and emotionally resonant, marked by lyrical depth and calm intensity. Her albums Home and Out of My Mind showcase her melodic sensitivity and thoughtful songwriting. A two-time Australian Folk Music Awards finalist, Joyce draws listeners into a quietly powerful world where melodies unfold slowly and meaningfully, leaving space for reflection long after the final note. Kris Mizzi, awarded the 2021 Australian Folk Alliance 'Solo Artist of the Year,’ is known for his unforgettable voice and poetic, soul-stirring songwriting. With a unique fingerpicking style and deeply honest lyrics, he creates intimate performances that truly move audiences. Described as “a deceptively gentle storyteller” by Paul Samwell-Smith (producer of Cat Stevens), Mizzi’s songs resonate more deeply with every listen. After a recent trip to Nashville, where he signed with TEN TEN Publishing, he’s currently crafting new music for international release.
