Along with our mutual love of Western Swing Tom and the Moonee

Valley Drifters have introduced me and many others to the joys and

sorrows of the Louvin Brothers, Lefty Frizzell, George Jones and Brenda

Lee. People even said when they played OUT ON THE WEEKEND” they

bring the real roots of country to Melbourne. They bring the love of the

song, a respect for the great feeling that country is capable of and the

release created by dancing – all central to the origins of the music, its

people’s music. The band features John ‘Dude’ Brockton on

drums/vocals, Rob Grenville vocals and the Gibson, and Ian McDonald

on double bass and Tom Forsell on vocals and various instruments. They

also feature Gerard Rowan on steel and me on piano.

The MOONEE VALLEY DRIFTERS ‘Hill & Range Music’  or BEST OF THE

MOONEE VALLEY DRIFTERS VOLUMN 1 are out now a whole “Bag” of

styles.

So celebrate the music of Tom Forsell and the Moonee Valley Drifters.
