Australian indie rock trio My Giddy Aunt could be most aptly described as a rainbow tornado, mixing witty lyrics and beautifully detailed soundscapes with punchy driving guitar work and a live act so full of energy that it could power a small town.
The all-queer & neurodivergent group have earned a reputation for their colourful and diverse musical palette, underpinned by memorable songwriting with plenty of heart, passion and more than a touch of whimsy.
The trio are launching their debut album ‘8 Billion Characters in the Worst Movie Ever’ at Retreat Hotel, Brunswick, on Thursday October 10. The project unfolds like a storybook of vignettes, highlighting the group’s distinct creativity and eclecticism.
MGA will be performing the album in full with an extended backing band, with support from Melbourne powerhouses Charlotte Bridie and Kaiyah Mercedes.
With their big focus on inclusivity and community, My Giddy Aunt welcomes and encourages critter of all stripes to come along and boogie!
The Retreat Hotel would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which The Retreat now stands, and pay our respects to all elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded and that our venue operates on stolen land.
