Ground Work - Land Rights, Land Back, Landcare

MAIN ROOM / TICKETED

It’s finally here! Our end of year celebration looks a little different

We’re partnering with our good friends Wattle volunteers to show our solidarity with First Nations, and that we are putting in the Ground Work to fight for Land Rights, Land Back and Land Care! Our aim is to raise $5000! Tickets are available via our linktree and if you aren’t able to make it, we also have an open donation running on our page that you can donate to!

Our aims for this fundraiser are:

To show our solidarity with First Nations here in Australia whilst acknowledging the ongoing impacts that colonisation continues to have throughout the world.

To create a platform with bands, artists and collectives that align with our values, so that they can promote their talent, local business, culture and much more.

To support environmental organisations so that we can continue to activate young adults in the environmental sector such as restoration projects, nature based workshops and events.

The proceeds will be divided by thirds to the below organisations/groups

Treaty For Victoria: First Peoples in Victoria have been fighting for a Treaty for decades, to acknowledge the truth about what was done to Aboriginal people and make sure Aboriginal communities have the freedom and power to come up with and deliver practical solutions at a local level.

PARA (Palestine Australia Action and Relief) who works closely with palestinian Palestinian migrants and refugees that have settled here in Australia. With the aim to help them achieve their full potential – free from the barriers created by conflict and displacement.

Urban Guerrillas & Wattle so that we can continue to restore biodiversity back to urban landscapes, and encourage and motivate young adults to care for nature in their own backyards.

We’re welcoming 4 incredible artists that are donating their time to perform free of charge (thankyou so much!)

- Pavani

- Supermodels

- Tracksuit Larry

- Daniel Aaron

We’ll also be welcoming guest speakers from our donor organisations as well as a special guest

- Para

- Treaty for Victoria

- Victorian National Parks Association

Now for the BIG ONE! We’ve also got $600 worth of raffle prizes! These prizes have been donated from small businesses around Melbourne and we feel very privileged to be a part of all of this generosity!

Thankyou all and we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

The Retreat Hotel would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which The Retreat now stands, and pay our respects to all elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded and that our venue operates on stolen land.
