Melbourne/Naarm’s breakout dark indie-pop derelicts, World's Best Neighbours celebrate the release of hypnotically eerie single “Disappoint You” on home ground at The Retreat Brunswick supported by class acts Jack Parsons (The Pretty Littles) and Darcy Forever.

“Disappoint You” is a grand mixture of entrancing guitars, droning piano, trip-hop drums and powerful melancholy vocals. The track transforms the familiar and nostalgic sounds of the ‘90s and ‘00s into something excitingly strange and original. World’s Best Neighbours often explore the darker complexities of mental health and masculinity with a tinge of self-deprecation and absurdity. “Disappoint You”, is a grandiose and somewhat seductive ode that delves into the overwhelming feelings of being a failure.

Jack Parsons is the front man and lead songwriter of Melbourne/Naarm’s indie punk royalty The Pretty Littles. His songs are both epic in imagination and cathartic in delivery. He writes about the Australian landscape, society, politics, romance, family and friendship with a cutting wit and gut wrenching detail. He’s an absolute joy to watch.

Darcy Forever are new to Melbourne, lead singer/songwriter Claire Tredennick made the move earlier in the year and we are very keen to watch her deliver her gorgeous brand of affecting indie folk. Get down early before she gets too big for us.

All artists playing would like to acknowledge that this show will take place on stolen Wurundjeri land. Sovereignty was never ceded. We pay respects to elders past and present. Always was, always will be.

The Retreat Hotel would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which The Retreat now stands, and pay our respects to all elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded and that our venue operates on stolen land.
