Featuring...
WEDNESDAY SESSION ONE (6:00-8:30pm)
Damaged Goods Club, The Crane District
For your early sesh, we’re serving you a two course meal of lo-fi, poetic, and introspective indie tunes to help you through those mid-week blues.
Damaged Goods Club are oozing with pastel pinks, ice cream drips and Freudian slips; boasting a musical bain-marie of tongue-in-cheek lyrics, floaty vocals and cute ‘n’ edgy vibes.
The Crane District is the solo project from Angelo Rosas-Ortiz, chock full of lo-fi pop and the brevity and honesty of a poet. Featuring some introspectively refined songwriting, this solo project exudes new inspiration and a new sound.
WEDNESDAY SESSION TWO (9:00pm-12:00am)
Stay a little later for an aperitif of soul, warmth, and suburban wit. This later session features two incredible solo artists bringing you some heartfelt blues and alt country.
P.T. Collis has spent the last decade or so penning raw tales of suburban absurdism, iconoclasm, psyche struggles, and matter-of-fact romance. You might know him as the frontman in Melbourne rock-band The Great Emu War, but you’ll remember him for his stage presence and raw, emotional songs.
Ruby Mae brings you her soulful stories from the burbs of Melbourne. Through her warm tones, melodic voice, and powerful lyrics, she moves freely through genres, grounding herself in indie folk, pop, soft rock, and country. Ruby has spent the last year growing and developing in her songwriting, and is sitting on a pile of new music, with her latest single ‘Hide and Seek’ out now.
THURSDAY SESSION ONE (6:00-8:30pm)
Back for round two, Thursday’s session is a delicious feast for your ears of jazzy prose with some electric alt-folk for dessert.
marigolden is the musical project of Tassie born but Melbourne based musician Mel O’Neill, boasting a unique sound using jazz and R’n’B influences to meet her folk roots. The poetry of her lyrics echoes spoken word and her melodies combine quiet self-reflection with a passionate urgency. Usually an active member of the Melbourne live music scene, marigolden has used the circumstances of 2020 to release her fierce debut single 'Taking It Back'.
Quiet Blue is the solo musical project of Nic Georgiou. The Melbourne based singer/songwriter has spent the past few years honing his craft, delving deeper into the world of electronic music and production to establish raw and intimate soundscapes underpinned a unique style of lyricism. Growing up, Georgiou was moved by the genius of folk legends like Sufjan Stevens, Gregory Alan Isakov and Bon Iver. More recently however, the sonic textures of artists like RY X, Honne, and Sohn have had an undeniable effect on his creative process.
THURSDAY SESSION TWO (9:00pm-12:00am)
We’re bringing you a late-night snack of dreamy pop with some good ol’ indie-rock to wash it down.
Trace Decay are here to deliver the world a healthy dose of melancholy dream-pop into your Thursday evening, carving out a niche in the Australian music industry with their unique and charismatic approach to songwriting. 2020 has been a big year for the duo, having released multiple singles and their debut EP ‘Monstrous Subconscious’ in December; their latest single ‘Arcade Games’ is out now.
The Rollercanes sound like a normal indie-rock band on the surface but there’s always the unshakeable feeling that things could turn at any minute. The Melbourne based four-piece have built a reputation for their high energy live shows and scrappy brand of indie-rock. The Rollercanes scout everyday life for something to sing about, bringing urgency to insignificance.
No such thing as a rock ’n’ roll gig without a drink or dinner in the beer garden before or after the show! After you’ve grabbed a ticket, head to retreathotelbrunswick.com.au to book a table before/after the set.
