The Orbweavers Sunday Afternoon at The Retreat Hotel Brunswick

BEER GARDEN / FREE SHOW

The Orbweavers will play a free double set in The Retreat’s newly renovated garden stage on Sunday 19 April. Hear favourite tunes from their extensive catalogue as well as new songs and stories about local mountains, the Calder freeway and Altona marine park.

The Orbweavers are Marita Dyson and Stuart Flanagan, multidisciplinary artists working in songwriting, performance and visual art, based in Narrm / Melbourne, on unceded Wurundjeri Woiwurrung Country. Their creative work responds to local histories, memory and place, often with a focus on water. Their latest album ‘New Moon / Silver Moon’ (RRR Album of the Week) responds to the many layered histories of two places: Narrm / Melbourne, and Broken Hill on Wilyakali Country, and surrounding Barkindji Country contemplating waterways, ecosystems and the impacts of industrialisation, along with personal stories and reflections from the present.

The Retreat Hotel would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which The Retreat now stands, and pay our respects to all elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded and that our venue operates on stolen land.
